The Trax comes in five trim levels, ranging from the entry-level LS model to the top-of-the-line ACTIV. The Soul comes in four configurations, from the budget-conscious LX to the pricier EX. We’ll find most of what these vehicles have to offer somewhere in the middle, so let’s review the standard features of the 2025 Chevy Trax LT versus the 2025 Kia Soul S.

Performance and Fuel Efficiency

The Trax has a lively ECOTEC 1.2L Turbo engine, delivering 137 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque. 6-speed automatic transmission puts you in control of a smooth ride. With an estimated fuel economy of 28 MPG city / 32 MPG highway, the Trax provides exceptional performance with nimble handling and good fuel efficiency.

The Soul has a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine under the hood for 147 hp and 132 lb-ft of torque. Featuring an intelligent variable transmission (IVT) and an estimated 27 MPG city / 33 MPG highway, the Soul is also a sensible pick.

Altogether, both the Trax and Soul are more than serviceable performers in most circumstances.

Driver Assist and Safety Features

The Chevy Trax is equipped with an impressive bundle of safety features. Standard driver-assistance features include HD rear vision camera, electronic stability control system with traction control, forward collision alert, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, following distance indicator, automatic emergency braking, and more.

The Kia Soul is no slouch either when considering safety. The Soul comes with a driver assist package that includes collision-avoidance assist, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, lane change assist, electronic stability control, and more.

Interior and Infotainment

If you like a welcoming interior that is well-equipped but not distracting, you’ll probably like the Trax. Open the doors and you’ll discover a 6-way adjustable driver seat, 60/40 split-folding rear seat, automatic climate control, 8-inch color driver information center, and more. The infotainment system features 6-speaker audio, 11-inch HD touchscreen, Bluetooth, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and everything you need to feel at home behind the wheel.

We have no major complaints about the Soul’s interior. With an 8-way power-adjustable driver seat, 60/40 split-folding rear seats, automatic climate control and more, the cabin is both comfortable and functional. 6-speaker audio, 10.25-inch touchscreen with navigation, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility and more make for a sufficient infotainment setup.

Conclusion

Chevrolet is acclaimed for iconic styling, comfort, reliability and value. The 2025 Trax upholds the reputation. The 2025 Kia Soul is also very well equipped. Both are excellent, but in our opinion, the Chevy Trax wins this matchup.
