The Trax comes in five trim levels, ranging from the budget-conscious LS model to the high-end ACTIV. The Kona comes in six trims, from the affordable SE to the well-appointed Limited. We’ll find most of what these vehicles have to offer not far from the base model, so let’s dig into the standard features of the 2025 Chevy Trax LT versus the 2025 Hyundai Kona SE.

Performance and Fuel Efficiency

The Trax packs a lively ECOTEC 1.2L Turbo engine, delivering 137 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque. 6-speed automatic transmission makes for a great driving experience. With an estimated fuel economy of 28 MPG city / 32 MPG highway, the Trax provides exceptional performance with nimble handling and good fuel efficiency.

The Kona has a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine under the hood for 147 hp and 132 lb-ft of torque. Featuring an intelligent variable transmission (IVT) and an estimated 29 MPG city / 34 MPG highway, the Kona is also a practical option.

In short, both the Trax and Kona are more than serviceable performers in most circumstances.

Driver Assist and Safety Features

The Chevy Trax packs an impressive array of safety features. Standard driver-assistance features include an HD rear vision camera, electronic stability control system with traction control, forward collision alert, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, following distance indicator, automatic emergency braking, and more.

The Hyundai Kona holds its own in terms of safety. The Kona comes with a driver assist package that includes blind-spot collision-avoidance warning, rear cross-traffic and forward collision-avoidance assist, lane keeping assist, driver attention warning, electronic stability control, and more.

Interior and Infotainment

If you prefer a welcoming interior with modern amenities, you’ll probably like the Trax. Step inside to discover 6-way adjustable driver seat, 60/40 split-folding rear seat, automatic climate control, 8-inch color driver information center, and more. The infotainment system features 6-speaker audio, 11-inch HD touchscreen, Bluetooth, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and everything you need to feel at home behind the wheel.

We have no major complaints about the Kona’s interior. With a 6-way adjustable driver seat, 60/40 fold-down seatback, and cloth upholstery, comfort shouldn’t be an issue. HD Radio, SiriusXM, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and more comprise a serviceable infotainment setup.

Conclusion

Chevrolet is highly regarded for iconic styling, comfort, reliability and value. The 2025 Trax is a perfect example. The 2025 Hyundai Kona is also a well-rounded option. Both are excellent, but in our opinion, the Chevy Trax wins this matchup.
